In moments of uncertainty or when the world seems to be spinning a little too fast, it's worth paying attention to the things that help you slow down. This particular scene stood out to me because it was late in the fall and my little sister and I were going for a hike so we could identify some plants for a school project she was working on. She pointed out to me that the whole river should be freezing over soon which got me thinking about how the plant life in the water survives the freeze. This algae growing on the rocks, and flowing with the river simultaneously, refuses to give up. It holds onto its foundation, while letting the current flow through it to bring it any nutrients it may need. In a moment I did not expect to shape how I think to this day, I found a little peace in watching the river take care of this algae. Perhaps, we're all algae holding on to the people around us letting the river of life give us what we need.
